Your driver training lessons are filled with many learning experiences. You will receive instruction on how to operate our vehicles so the lesson goes smoothly. In addition, you will be given instruction that will keep you safe. The industry has basic guidelines of what is taught. There is a basic order, but as events occur we are then presented with with what we view as a perfect opportunity to teach. So, we do. Thus, things may be "feel" out of order. Hopefully, you will see it all come together by the 3rd lesson.
There will be times that your lesson will begin and be conducted in a parking lot. This is for your safety and for no other reason. That is what an instructor does. There will be times that the instructor will assist you with the steering wheel. That is what an instructor does. There will be times that the instructor will use the training brake. That is what an instructor does. This is what they are trained to do.
There are times that an instructor will ask a student drive on the freeway on the first lesson. Some students may not drive on the freeway at all.
The reasons are many. A student may be too fearful, not ready, or the required practice is not being conducted. Thus, we have to repeat the same things taught on prior lessons. There is a basic guideline that the industry follows and we follow that. There is no required order. Six hours is all we usually get so we make the best use of it we can.
We engage in sugar free driving. This means that we have the ability to see things objectively. We will tell you like it is and show you the skills you need to pass your road test AND to be a successful driver. Each instructor is professionally trained and follows Driversity™ policy, state laws, and industry safety guidelines. We do NOT yield to "arm chair" opinions and egos of those that view themselves as expert drivers, whose training doesn't reach beyond their original driver education class they took a couple decades ago, and feel the need to instruct us on how to instruct you.
Every effort is made to teach you how to drive. You must practice driving with your parent(s) or guardian(s) between lessons. Practice will prevent us from covering the same topics covered on a prior lesson. Practice also enables us to move beyond the basics and provides us the opportunity to teach you more advanced techniques. This makes the money you spend the best value for your dollars.
Ask yourself if you be able to fly a plane after 6 hours of flight instruction. Would you take 6 hours of piano lessons and apply for Juilliard or play Carnegie Hall? You will get out of it what you put into it. And parents.........the same applies to you. You cannot expect to have a good driver if you do not invest the appropriate amount of time with your student.
